Make the moment last.

Guests have long described Miraval as transformative. New research helps illuminate the impact.

As wellness travelers, we always wonder: how long will this last? Is this moment of peace, this warmth, just a temporary balm? Or have I begun something real and lasting?

To deepen our understanding of guest impact, we collaborated with Humin, an independent global nonprofit at the forefront of wellbeing science, to measure how a Miraval stay may shape stress, mindfulness, and connection both in the moment and over time.

A recent survey captured impressions from 176 guests before, 14 days after, and 2 months after their stay at Miraval Resorts.

Community and connection

The Miraval brand fosters real connections between people, time and again.

Surveyed guests reported feeling a sense of community and belonging while on-property.

In particular:

  • 95% said they felt a sense of community.
  • 41% said thet felt a very strong sense of community.
  • Over 70% reported making new friends or having a meaningful shared experience with others.

Mindfulness

Our guests deepen their mindful practice. And it lasts.

Mindfulness is the very heart of the Miraval brand. It’s also at the core of all true wellness, and many spiritual traditions.

And yet, as many of us know all too well, mindfulness is easy to understand, and so hard to maintain.

Miraval resorts help guests build a firm base for their mindfulness practice.

Gains in percieved mindfulness, connection, awareness, and self-efficacy* were reported by surveyed participants well after their stay. These benefits may help to equip guests with skills to manage stress, enhance performance, and find meaning in daily life.

Empowerment and agency

Our guests emerge feeling empowered, confident, and clear.

Self-efficacy is a person’s belief in their own abilities and capacity to achieve goals and command a sense of purpose.

Surveyed guests at Miraval frequently described realizations such as, “I need to set up boundaries to manage stress,” “I can do hard things,” and “I re-grounded on what’s important and learned to give myself more grace.”

Job and purpose

A reset in our wellbeing resets our sense if satisfaction at work.

In response to the survey question, “In general, how satisfied are you with your job?” Guests reported higher job satisfaction after their stay compared with pre-stay survey results.

Healing our sense of peace and purpose in the work we do every day is fundamental to lasting wellbeing. We are encouraged by the correlation between a Miraval stay and job satisfaction, and the role that may play in the lives of so many Miraval guests.

Perceiving lower stress, even after your stay

Guests self-reported feeling less stressed, with 62% of those who participated in the study perceiving a reduction in stress even at 60 days post-departure.*

Survey Results

Study findings are based on an independent, longitudinal research study conducted by Humin using its Healthy Minds Scientific Framework focused on Awareness, Connection, Insight, and Purpose and standardized measures, including the NIH-recognized Perceived Stress Scale. Further, results are based qualitative interviews and multi-timepoint surveys. A total of 266 guests completed pre-stay assessments, with 176 of those guests participating in two-week and 60-day follow-ups.

The study applied the Healthy Minds Framework, Awareness, Connection, Insight, and Purpose. Participants who completed the research study were offered a $500 resort credit toward fee-based offerings during a future stay at a Miraval resort. Full methodology and detailed results are available at humin.org.
